Hi Stefanos
The current state of the customer infrastructure is this.
VBR 11.0.0.837 P20210525 (Community Edition)
Please note that it would be a violation of our license policy and end user license agreement to provide any services (design, implementation, technical support, etc.) to a customer using the Community Edition.
Ensure that the customer is properly licensed; otherwise, you are not permitted to assist with their backup infrastructure.
VBR 11.0.0.837 P20210525
It is strongly recommended to update this environment as soon as possible. The latest release (v12.3.2) includes numerous security fixes and improvements over v11. Since the customer is currently running v11, it may be worthwhile to consider a greenfield deployment using our new Software Appliance (v13) and recreate everything from scratch. Old backups from the v11 installation can be imported if needed.
Please also keep in mind the licensing changes for NAS backups starting with v12 (500GB = 1 VUL or 1 TB capacity licensing).
Unity File Backup
Yes, you can add the file shares as "SMB File Shares" to the backup server and select "Backup from a storage snapshot at the following path". Snapshots need to be scheduled via pre-job scripts or outside of Veeam.
Best,
Fabian
