Why did you format the volume with NTFS. ReFS 64k is the way to go for Windows.

On old servers I had similar configuration with NTFS.

How did you connect the QNAP? MPIO?

QNAP with port trunk 802.3ad dynamic 1+2 Adapter >> CISCO Port-Channel >> ESXi with NIC Teaming (CDP), (Route based on originating port ID), dedicated vlan.
VM and NAS are in the same vlan.
