Hi
We had a similar case (No Veeam case number at hand) and ended up with a MS support case. Her is the answer:
Good day!
The engineering team identified that backend services supporting Exchange Web Services (EWS) in Exchange Online had introduced additional noise to sync jobs, causing delays and impacting service performance. This led to increased operation times and a higher number of items returned to sync, which in turn resulted in the observed spikes in backup data.
A fix was developed and deployed across affected environments. The issue was monitored to ensure the resolution's effectiveness, and user feedback confirmed remediation.
The root cause was confirmed to be related to Exchange Online event EX870973, and not a Veeam or configuration issue if the Veeam was using the EWS services to connect to exchange online.
The team will review backend services to prevent similar issues in the future. This is the final update for the event.
