Veeam Backup & Replication • Issue with VBR Email Reports "Error: invalid XML content"

Hi guys,

I'm experiencing an issue with VBR, which seems to have started after I slightly renamed two backup jobs. Although the jobs complete successfully, the email reports now return a status of "[Failed] ..." with the comment:
"Error: invalid XML content"


At the end of the job, the following warning appears:
Sending e-mail report Details: invalid XML content


Despite searches using these exact terms, I’ve found surprisingly little information, and no clear Veeam knowledge base article on this specific error.

I did come across a vague suggestion that reconfiguring the general email notification settings could resolve the issue—but that didn't help in my case. Also, test email sends work perfectly fine.

I'm currently running Veeam Backup & Replication version 12.3.1.1139.

Any ideas, suggestions, or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
