Tentatively - although there is no ReFS fix in the May Patch, something has changed.
After installing the SSU (KB5043080) and also a security fix for .net (KB5059200) and rebooting, the machine no longer has such an appitite for RAM.
It has been up for an hour and is still only using 14Gb RAM - it would have been well on its way to 50Gb by now, before KB5043080 was installed.
There appears to be no increase in the demand for CPU time.
Trying to get KB5058411 (the meat of the LCU) to install is proving interesting but that is a story for another place.
