Almost one year later the situation is pretty the same.
There are some improvements but at unreasonable cost.
On the Schedule step of the edit task, there is a question "Can we change your power plan settings to allow daily backup to wake up this computer from sleep?"
If I select Yes then the curent power plan, Sleep, Allow wake timers set to Enable.
- Yes, this allow Veeam to do its job but also many other jobs.
- If your laptop lid is not closed in the night you can see a non-stop flashing of sleep/wake events represented by the laptop screen off/on.
If I select No, then nothing changes in the power plan and Veeam didnt work.
- Actually I can see that the job is started on selected time 00:30 (it is normal modern sleep then) but there is error "Shared memory connection was closed....."
- Then Veeam tryes again and again an if some of the tries are at 03:00 (regular Maintenance Window) and the backup job is short, it finished succesfully.
- The same is if Sleep, Allow wake timers is set to Important Wake Timers Only. As what i found it covers only Windows Maintenance jobs.
So at now, the only workaround is by Task Scheduler Veeam command line.
MS declared that some appliacation should have modern sleep compatibility to work fine.
Veeam should found some working solution and provide this modern sleep compatibility.
