VMware vSphere • VEEAM Migration Utility Scenario Assistance

We are keeping our vCenter but have many sub-entities (Stand-Alone, Single, ESXi Hosts in branch locations with local only storage) that require a renames.
Will the MoRef Migration Tool help in this scenario? The Documentation reads as if it is primarily used for vCenter migrations.

I was thinking I could go through the migration process without the vCenter rename option, build the migration file, customize the migration task file so it will only run against the VM objects for the renamed ESXi host.

Anyone else do anything like this?
