I still haven't seen anybody from Veeam respond regarding the issue of broken chains.
We have some large data stores (c. 15TB) that change little and aren't business critical that we backup with Reverse Incremental (and dump out to take every 3-6 months after an Active Full backup). We don't really want to be doing this more frequently and deliberately chose Reverse Incremental because we knew that if one of the delta files became corrupted, we could at least recover the latest backups.
